Hi Mel

I am on Imuran it has worked well for me. Can't help with the TTC bit, but I am sure someone on here will. There is Arava but TTC not allowed with Arava. Sorry MTX not working but it didn't for me either.

I really hope you Rheumy team can come up with something - has anti-tnf been discussed?

Yes one can TTC on Imuran, I was on it for years and years and conceived both Ben and Marie whilst popping it! LOL

I did however come off it as soon as I found out i was expecting.

Sorry MTX is not doing it's job for you.....

Much love.

I was on sulphazazaline and had to stop it immediately when i got pregnat , Mel what about Rituximab i have Ra and Lupus and consultant put me on this drug as he said i couldn't have Anti tnf but now he told me last time that he had done some research and if Rituximab doesn't work i could try Anti tnf . Interesting about your glands this is exactly what would happen to me , i would know when i was going to have a flare as my throat would be so sore then i would be in bed not being able to move x

Hi melly,I had no idea that swollen glands had anything to do with the mtx, mine have been up for ages, but never thought about it, my throat is sore alot of the time, didnt think of the mtx. It doesnt work anyway, been 5 months and nothing, the last ESR was 66. I never seem to get any info from the rheumy clinic, but oh well, theres always March!!! Smile

Hi mel sorry to hear you're having problems with your meds. Can't really offer advice as I don't know a lot about the different types of medication around. I can't take sulf or MTX and have been put forward for Anti-TNF treatment.

Love,

Barbara

Hi Mel

Sorry, can't offer advice on the meds; I'm on sulfa and MTX and I'm one of the lucky ones as they don't seem to cause a bad reaction in me. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Melly

I am on Leflumonide with no side effects in combination with methotrexate and they do seem to be working o.k.

Not sure if you can take the Leflumonide with lupus but it might be worth checking out.

Take care

ahh thanks, neither here nor there as yet-put me onto planequil as suitable for both lupus and ra wnats me come off mtx once planeqil kicking in bit.

rheumy wanted take me off it november aprently i wasnt keen so soon before xmas, daft really considering had spent 6 months trying get through to old rheumy it wasnt working.

expect he up the planequil before withdrawing mtx its not worked well for some time but old rheumy who used to see wouldtn do anything lol.
lupus or ra or both still no def answer sorry thought id said so.
says it may take years to get firmer answer so far have sytpoms of both.
fibromalgia def confirmed as is inflammtory arthritis, and enodmetrois by gynae last week as early stages of that.
must be pretty def re lupus or rheumy woudlnt have started me on lupus/ra medication and hes still doing more test and may well do so onwardly for some time.
looking at systemic lupus erthymaseous.
so im stil in limbo land but at least taken seriously as to whats wrong.

thanks for asking do hope things going well for you.
maybe 2010 willbring me def answer they say lupus can really come to show its self with pregancy whihc we are aiming for 2010.

sorry bit long reply but things rather complex.

hope you do not mind but I would like to ask a question
what are your chances of starting a family if they cant control your RA/lupas did the doctor say any-thing to you?

Hi Mary

Thanks course u can ask,i might not know though.
didnt get that stage yet with rheumy only gynae had said re lupus would be rik of miscarriage and so high risk pregancy for which needs a speiclist gynae /obs consultant involved.
he deals with lupus a fair amount.

even skin lupus as it can chane to systemic espaiclly during pregancy for some.
course they tell the worst and epect best.

nurse said ra would have be controlled, and ttc stage most likely be medically controlled re medicaton.
Endometrois and lupus the highest risk to my health and chances of tcc yes need to be controlled also.
both of these they run ttc during preg and after clinics here in London.

he did say i will need expect more challenges and need support.
afraid i did not ask any more wet into shock zone out time.
hope you had fab xmas day we did family came had nice meal.

Hi Mel,

Just to say that one can TTC and be pregnant whilst taking both Hydro and Imuran (Azathrioprine) so there are some choices...

Much love,

Amanda

You're correct, one does not need bloods whilst taking (solely) Hydro but you do need bloods with Imuran, I had them every 8 weeks.

They act as an immuno-suppressive too and need to be monitored. The dosage is done according to body weight, it was found that I was actually on too high a dose for my weight! (One of the reasons for me leaving my old rheumy- the one I saw when I was 16years! LOL)

I was on 150mg a day but probably needed 100mg for weight...It was hailed an excellent med before the introduction of mtx although many people still use it now.

Much love (on my brother's computer and doing *quite* well!LOL)
